If you want my full and unvarnished by text thoughts on the Switch 2's prices and such, go listen to Episode#69 of the Unscripted Gaming Podcast. It can be found here. If you don't want to do that, here they are:

$450 is an "okay" price. Is it what I was looking for? Nope, that would be the Japanese price of $340 that us US Citizens are not getting. Alas, we once again are proven to be in the cursed timeline. Am I particularly happy that some of the Switch 2 games will be upwards of $80 USD? No. No not even a little bit. This, admittedly, will not keep me from buying a Switch 2, but it will make my think thrice about every single game I buy for it.

Am I happy with the accessory prices? Hell to the no. Those are the most egregious pills to swallow from this whole thing and I've simply made peace with the fact that I probably will not buy any official Nintendo accessories for the next ten years. All this and yet there is one thing I want to note in this short post: This is directly the Trump Administration's fault. Yes, yes, some of you will say "this is Nintendo being greedy", and yeah there is enough of that going on. That said, let's stop beating around the bush. This is is the direct results of massive tariffs caused by one man's desire to ...I don't know what exactly. Any other analysis beyond that is for a history book thirty years in the future, but in the moment, you are perfectly correct to blame tariffs directly. Do not let anyone else tell you otherwise.
